Fighting Foreclosure and Keeping our Neighborhoods Clean
The foreclosure crisis has forced too many families from their homes and left too many homes in disrepair. Jeff has proposed a number of initiatives to help families avoid foreclosure, and to turn around those properties already lost to the banks:
- Keep Your Home Campaign: Jeff worked with County Commissioner David Pepper to create a program that has helped more than 1,000 families stay in their homes through foreclosure counseling with the Legal Aid Society of Cincinnati and the United Way of Greater Cincinnati.
- Increased Litter Fines: Jeff is currently working on a proposal to increase the fines for all litter offenses in Cincinnati to $1,000. Our neighborhoods need to be clean and safe for all Cincinnatians, and it's time to hold problem property owners accountable with real penalties.
- Housing Court: It is a difficult process, but Jeff continues working with County Commissioner Greg Hartmann to create a local full-time Housing Court that could process foreclosures faster and return properties to local families.
Cincinnati is a vibrant city because of the diverse groups of people who live in its neighborhoods. We need to preserve those neighborhoods and the homes of the people living there. Jeff will continue his work to keep families in their homes and in our community - because we all deserve to live in a safe, clean and vibrant Cincinnati.
